After a week of chaos, hundreds of emails, panic, and mourning of the physical loss of Michael, we come together and look towards the future of MJFiction.
Namely, we are looking at ways we can ensure MJFiction can continue to honor Michael's legacy through the distant future. Part of that will entail instituting a number of updates to the site. It's outdated and buggy. We know. These would/could involve the following:
- New appearance
- Reactivating the Registration feature (I can hear everyone who is annoyed with my questions cheering. Sorry, occupational hazard). This will only be possible with the understanding that any duplicates created would result in a permanent ban. That means, if you think you have a previous account, ALWAYS email me at mjf.redone@gmail.com with whatever information you have, so that I can check for you and make sure you don't end up having future problems on the site.
- Fixes of glitches/bugs
- More contests
Part of this would require $$. Having received multiple offers for donations, we are wondering if this would be a feature you would appreciate on the site. All donations would ONLY go back into the site, to ensure that it continues for years and years to come.

We'd prefer if videos are not posted on mjfiction. Personally within your own chapters is fine, on the summary page, it slows everything down... I know that because I use an old and a new computer. On my older computer, it drags to load, on the new one it takes long to load. All you need to do is reread our reply to get your answer.
DLN - It's a fine line. I totally hear you. At this point, people aren't allowed to join unless they agree to post 5 reviews in the first 30 days; if they fail this, their accounts are locked. From there, the only way to reactivate the accounts is then to post 30 reviews in 10 days. (Note: We'd appreciate feedback letting us know if you feel this is fair or not)
That being said, I think there is a line. I doubt anyone has reviewed every single chapter they've read, you and I included. Thus, we've also been silent readers and would be banned by that logic. At some point, it benefits authors view "reads" as encouragement to keep writing.
Don't get caught in that trap.

Question when you do fanfiction awards is there a way to have a poll option? It would make it easier to count votes! Just a suggestion.

mjsdirtydiana - you are right, it definitely would make things easier. The problem would be people voting multiple times for a category. I'm sure someone would figure out a way to bypass any blocks.

I guess but usually with polls, once you vote, your username can no longer vote only way to change a vote would be to contact an admin.. Unless a person has multiple usernames can they vote more than once.
At at least that was how it was done when I was a moderator on a now defunct board. Many, many moons ago!
i would love to see everyone get a chance to have their story featured on the home page, especially those who update regularly and keep the chapters coming. like babygirl123, who updates several times a week. they deserve as much recognition as others.
We've been doing that for several weeks now. Randomly selecting stories to be featured on the home page. :)
Kara - typically people post a request in opening note or end note of their story chapter. Otherwise, if say a person likes someone's banner, they might comment on the story and ask for tips/help. Is that adequate?
On a side note - I appreciate you continuing to contribute ideas. We are only getting started with this, and it will take a while, but we are in it for the long haul :)
Just thought it would be a good idea. I've seen banner request forums on several non-MJ fanfiction sites back in the early 2000's :)
I'd be willing to donate when I can. I'd rather donate to something productive (considering the fact that I write here) verses spending money on fast food, lol. It'll help me, but anyway I'm down for donating.
I think the story of the month thing is pretty cool and I've noticed the new challenge that you and Skywriter are going to be judging. I'm iffy on whether or not I want to participate in it, but I do know that I'm excited to read the entries. It's something new for the site and it keeps people coming back.
I don't have any suggestions on the appearance of the site, but if I stumble upon something then I'll let you all know. ;D
So from now on we cannot embed videos at all? And the existing ones will be removed? It was not really clear from the above comment you made - what I understood was that there would be no plugin update, not that we cannot post videos at all...
