I feel extremly sad. But I love the story. The way it was done makes me think about choices we make as humans, for good or bad, and how we have to live with them.
Monet knows she loves him and that he still loves her, but they weren't meant to be together. She said it herself, she could have never settled down they way he wanted.And he couldn't move around the way she wanted. Their love marred by that one truth.
At least they left on good terms.
