Gazing out to the night, the vast emptiness of the sky
He lets a part of himself go
With the soft breaths of wind that pass him by
In this infinite space, stranded, alone,
He knows he’s just another wandering soul
Seeking meaning, in a meaningless void
That stamps value on itself,
The very value from which it’s devoid.
The flickering lights up in the heavens above,
They used to entice him, but not so much now,
Simply radiance stranded in the cosmos, alone
Just like him, another wondering soul.
The unsynchronized twinkling, a sporadic heart beat
Much like his own, that’s just existing,
Holding his essence in a corporeal form,
That’s his refuge for now, in time to dispose.

He stares ahead at the realm,
That’s sunk deep in its slumber
The sedation simply a mask
For the silent chaos that simmers under.
And dragging himself along,
In the trail that everyone’s forced to walk,
Just as lost and stranded, alone,
He knows he’s just another wondering soul.
A paradoxical trap that takes one full circle,
Hailing limitation, deluding it as freedom,
Dubbing everything beyond as childish weakness,
A vain distraction from the liberty dictated.
In this strife, this angst, this chase
His resistance forced him
Into an abyss in abstract space,
In a bland reclusion, stranded, alone,
He knows he’s just one wandering soul.

There must be something more,
He knows it in his heart,
Something more than this ridiculous part,
In this play no one even wants to watch,
An act simply mustered
From hopes and dreams once blotched.
So he lets a part of himself go,
With every breath he takes,
Losing himself in infinite bliss and space,
His essence focused to penetrate the light,
Fleeing the shackles of the trap, this plight,
Never to return, never to fall,
An escape to immortal freedom
For once and for all.
