I do realize that this is a very senstive and controversial subject but I want to let you know that I'm in no way trying to portray or paint Michael in a bad light or executing an over exposition of his private things or embarrassing him. My sole intention of this is just trying to vindicate Michael by learning as much as possible to at least get and give a slight view of why he made the choices the way he did and a little spotlight on the troubled life he lived behind the curtains.

I love how conflicted Michael is in this chapter - he is cold and tries to convince himself that this night did not mean anything to him; but at the same time, he cannot help feeling tenderness, care and protectiveness towards Nita.
And Nita is vulnerable and strong at the same time, and showing both. I loved how she shut the door in Michael's face at the end:)

This chapter made me laugh so much! Michael was both adorable and hilarious in his drunken state. I think that so far your story has the perfect balance between the childlike side and the manly side of Michael (and this was one of the chapters that showed it the best).
It is sweet how both Nita and Michael admitted their love for each other:) I am looking forward to seeing how Nita will cope with being the girfriend of a superstar (because being Michael Jackson's girfriend is not an easy task). An amazing chapter, which totally deserves the title of the milestone chapter of TRD!

Hi, I am a new reader of this beautiful story. I am very late to the party, and I have noticed that you haven't updated in 2 years, but I hope you will one day:) In the meantime I am going to enjoy all the chapters you have submitted so far.
Your writing is absolutely beautiful, I have been completely immersed in the first 3 chapters, partly because of the complex characters, and partly because of your detailed, realistic and at the same time poetic way of describing each emotion, change of state or expression, and each thought of the characters.
I think you have created a complex and wonderful character in Nita, and Michael is also very intriguing, a mix of charm and seduction on one hand, and of pain, innocence and pride, on the other hand. I am sure the story is going to be a beautiful journey for me:)

I must confess that I liked Michael and Bill's conversation about Nita in the previous chapter more than Nita and Jenny's conversation about Michael in this chapter. I found Michael's conversation with Bill to be deep and funny, and to better fit the chapter and the story. Bill is also a wise guy - I loved it when he told Michael that Nita is the kind of girl rare to find and easy to miss. (I am sorry I did not write this in the review for the previous chapter, where it belongs; I totally forgot to write about it).
Nita and Jenny's conversation didn't have the same flow or impact on me, it seemed a little artificial and contrived (not to mention that Nita hadn't answered Jenny's calls in a long time, and now the first thing they do when they meet is to talk about Nita's love interest). The conversation seemed to be a bit forced in there in order to have Nita admit her feelings (after Michael had already done it).
But it is nice to see that Nita has such a good friend in Jenny, who made some good points about Michael.
The best part of the chapter was of course Michael dropping the 'I love you' bomb to Nita:)

"Please don't give me competition, sweetheart. Hell, I don't like competition!" That pretty much sums up Michael's entire attitude throughout the whole chapter. He made me laugh when he was mocking that guy. It was a sight to see him acting that way and realizing he was being all territorial and jealous, lol. Glad he and Nita are on better terms:)

Back to this wonderful story... I loved the previous chapter, with their first date, it was special (with the hilarious part where Nita asked Michael to buy Thriller for her).
This chapter was lovely as well:) Michael is adorable and funny as he is so scared to let Nita know he is in love with her, lol. I don't think anything happened between Nita and that guy Stevie.

Nita being a mother (although not the biological one) was such a surprise! And I think this adds a new dimension to her character (especially in Michael's eyes), as well as to the relationship between Michael and Nita. It was great to see Michael interacting with the little boy, because Michael was just...Michael, that is wonderful with kids.
I think that Michael in your story is very male, without losing his occasional child-like behavior, and that is a lovely combination (I believe he was that combination in real life as well); he became jealous and territorial about Nita when he heard about her having a possible boyfriend.
Their conversation at the end was heartbreaking, I understand Nita, but it was extremely painful for a sweet and sensitive guy like Michael to hear her telling him to go away and leave her alone. I think that may be the reason he ended up in the hospital.

Four more chapters into the story, I got so caught up in it that I have omitted to leave a review, but now I feel compelled to leave one:)
Michael is a very complex character in this story (and that is entirely because of your talent at writing him), he is full of contradictions: on one hand, for example, there is this big star with a big ego, who does things only his way (and expects people to do the same), but on the other hand, he has a kind heart and a lot of empathy, and these qualities make him tolerable (and adorable), otherwise he be insufferable; he wants to be with Nita only for the benefits (sex), but he makes the others around him believe that between him and Nita there is this beautiful love story that has conquered it all; he claims that he wants nothing to do with Diana, and treats her very coldly, but it doesn't take long for him to become weak and vulnerable before her. I know Michael was complex in real life as well, and I love how that aspect of his personality is reflected in your story.
I really enjoyed Nita and Michael bickering in chapter 8, it was so funny! And their conversation in this chapter was beautiful. Nita will always be a sweetheart, so honest and vulnerable and tender-hearted, and Michael is very mature when he realizes how hurt she is, and sort of admits that he feels more for her than just physical attraction. And it is so funny to see him not having the courage to face a hurt Nita (even if the lack of courage lasts only a moment).

"But why, Natalya?"
"Because they want to ruin your good name...They want to show how the corrupt capitalist world of America is trying to destroy the Perestroika. Once you fall into their trap, you will never be able to recover. And if I don't push you into this trap, they will send me to Lubyancka prison and I will never see little Katya again."

Beautiful chapter! Michael was so funny in the beginning (and in the previous chapter too), but Natalya's answer was on point. I have a feeling this and the next chapters are important milestones in their relationship.
I don't know what Igor will say about Natalya and Michael behaving like kids skipping classes:) I guess he will not be happy at all, and the consequences will be on Natalya...

Hi, I am both an old and a new reader of this lovely story. Old - because I discovered it some years ago as an non-registered reader, and new, because now that I have an account I have come back to it, and intend to stick to it until the latest chapter.
This chapter is lovely, and it gives some insight into Michael's side of personality that is explored here. He is such a star! But he also has a genius and child-like touch that you are showing very well. And I loved how, after seeing her pictures, Michael completely changes his attitude towards Natalya:)

Everything is becoming more and more tense, and this story keeps me on the edge of my seat:)
Michael and Natalya are adorable and brave as they are trying to fool Igor. I admit that I am a little nervous about them trying to pull off this whole scenario. The stakes are very high, and one wrong move can lead to a total disaster.

It was so funny to see Natalya and Michael playing lovers in the previous chapter:) I am not sure that Michael will be able to keep his promises to Natalya though, I cannot see any way for him to get Natalya and Katya out of the country.

As someone who grew up in an communist country, I can say that I relate so much to Natalya's joy at having hot water...after three days! Natalya's thoughts at the end about having to do whatever she would be ordered to do also shows very well the oppressive atmosphere of those days.
I particularly enjoyed the fact that both Michael and Natalya are able to look beyond the glamour of the other's photos, and see a glimpse of the other's true self. As Michael notices, Natalya is a girl that is trying too hard to impress (and we find out a little later that she was forced to impress), and Natalya notices the warmth and kindness in Michael's eyes and concludes that he doesn't look like he would hurt her. That was lovely:)
